Norwegian-American Genealogical Association

Guidelines for Donating to the N-AGA Library

As a 100% volunteer organization we are always grateful for donations to the N-AGA library. As a genealogy based association, donations must contribute to genealogy. Our guidelines for donations are as follows. If you have something that meets these guidelines please contact  librarian@norwegianamerican.org

  1. Maps with the approval of the N-AGA librarian.
  2. Bygdebøker and Ættarbøker for all areas of Norway and farm histories.
  3. Norwegian and Norwegian-American community and church histories.
  4. Emigration and immigration books for Norwegians leaving Norway.
  5. Family histories of Norwegian families in Norway or those who emigrated.
  6. History of Norwegian communities and areas settled by Norwegian-Americans.
  7. Lag publications, often a yearbook with information for descendants from that area of Norway.
  8. If donations duplicate what is in the collection, the N-AGA librarian might not accept them.

We cannot accept: children's books, travel books such as Frommer's, Fodor's, Lonely Planet, etc.; bibles, church bulletins, picture books, publications intended for tourists in Norway.

Any item donated to the N-AGA library requires completion of this donation form and approval from  librarian@norwegianamerican.org
