N-AGA Mission Statement

  • To expand knowledge of and encourage interest in Norwegian ancestry and heritage.
  • To exchange ideas relating to genealogical research and methods.
  • To provide information on topics of interest to members.
  • To encourage the writing of family, emigration, immigration and settlement histories.
  • To collect and preserve Norwegian genealogical reference materials for people who are interested in researching their Norwegian ancestry.

A brief history of N-AGA

N-AGA was formed by by a group of Scandinavian-Americans interest in their ancestry in the five Nordic countries. It was originally called the Scandinavian American Genealogy Society (SAGS) which later became individual branches within the Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS). Each group has developed its own society with meetings, a newsletter, and resources for genealogy.
